We are guided by the idea that assessments and evaluations should not be imposed on communities but rather they should be done in partnership with Communities by centering Stakeholders priorities, thoughts, and concerns.

Based in Golden, Colorado, Seneca Consulting is a small woman-owned business, built on a foundation of over 25 years of experience in the field of education. We focus on equitable and culturally sustaining evaluation and assessment practices to ensure that programs are sensitive to the needs of the communities they serve. We offer research consulting services, specializing in psychometrics and assessment, program evaluation, instrument development, data collection and analysis, grant and peer review, and educator effectiveness.

Highlighted Projects

Kaiapuni Assessment of Education Outcomes (K‘EO)
Seneca Consulting leads the technical and psychometrician aspects of KĀʻEO which is the first statewide Native language assessment used for state and federal accountability. Seneca's work includes supporting University of Hawai‘i project staff to ensure the development process meets the rigorous standards of U.S. Department of Education peer review. We work with a team of psychometric consultants in diverse areas, including standard setting, calibration and scaling, reliability and validity analyses, and item review. For more information see our open source article in Frontiers.

Coherence and Alignment among Science Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Seneca leads the external evaluation on a federal Innovative Assessment Grant that is building research driven formative assessments in science and supporting their use through parent, teacher, and administrator engagement.  For additional information go to this link.

Inclusive Excellence Teacher Scholar Program
Seneca led the external evaluator on a 5-year grant awarded to the University of Northern Colorado by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The university used this grant to develop and administer its STEM Inclusive Excellence program, which assists faculty in recognizing their own implicit biases, beliefs, and values so that they can create more inclusive classrooms and equitable relationships with all students. For additional information see the project website.

Native American Student Needs Assessment
As a consultant for the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Central, Seneca led projects for the American Indian Education Research Alliance. Two of these projects focus on supporting state Indian education directors in developing culturally relevant needs assessments that reflect the priorities of Native communities. This work includes developing surveys to measure strengths and challenges in schools serving Native American students. The survey results help the state education agencies provide focused support to those schools. For more information go to the Institute of Education Sciences website.

CERTIFIED WOMEN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS
Seneca proudly holds both the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certification. The WBENC Certification is the most widely recognized certification for women-owned businesses in the U.S.

✔ Having a woman in the highest leadership role as per legal business documents.
✔ Showing transparent female management and decision-making authority in daily operations.
✔ Ensuring unrestricted female control in business operations and governance.
WBEC  provides Seneca opportunities to connect with major corporations, government contracts, and business development programs to help women entrepreneurs thrive. Seneca is certified through WBEC-West.

“I look for the day . . . when the only criterion of excellence or position shall be the ability and character of the individual; and this time will come.”
